Meet Randy Hettich

Randy Hettich is a lifelong leader whose career spans telecommunications, small business, and community service. He built a successful career at AT&T, eventually serving as National Service Manager before retiring in 2004.

After his retirement, Randy co-founded AAA Solutions in 2003 and later launched Hettich and Associates and HHH Sanitation, growing each venture with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and the help of his sons. He officially retired in 2021.

He currently serves as Chairman of the City of Argo Zoning Commission and enjoys restoring old vehicles, yard work, and pickleball in his free time. Most of all, he values time with Shelley, his four children—Chris (Misty), Tim (Melissa), Brad (Sara), and Dana (Jessie)—and nine grandchildren.

Our community is ready for thoughtful leadership that embraces opportunity, supports controlled growth, and protects the small-town feel we all love.

Randy's Plan for Argo

Create Better Roads & Infrastructure

Our residents deserve safe, reliable roads and infrastructure — not just for convenience, but for their safety and peace of mind. When roads, bridges, or drainage systems begin to deteriorate, they create serious, long-term challenges for our community. That’s why I’m committed to a disciplined, responsible approach to budgeting and will work closely with city leadership to develop a clear, strategic plan to address Argo’s most pressing infrastructure needs.

We’ll partner with key stakeholders — including the St. Clair County Commission, the Alabama Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Department of Transportation — to identify funding opportunities, pursue grants, and collaborate on major projects. I’ll also work with the appropriate federal authorities and the railroad companies to address long-standing concerns related to rail traffic and safety — ensuring that our infrastructure planning accounts for every factor that impacts daily life in Argo.

Infrastructure is the backbone of every thriving community. And under my leadership, we won’t settle for temporary fixes. We’ll work together to build a long-term vision for Argo — one rooted in smart planning, solid partnerships, and a shared commitment to progress.

Support Our First Responders

We’re fortunate to have dozens of dedicated individuals serving Argo as first responders. Their commitment to our safety deserves more than just words of thanks — it deserves meaningful support. As mayor, I’ll work closely with the City Council to ensure our public safety departments are fully equipped, properly staffed, and backed by the resources they need to do their jobs with excellence.

That means securing funding for updated equipment, expanding training opportunities, and offering competitive pay and benefits to attract and retain top-tier talent. I’ll also prioritize clear communication and strong collaboration between our first responders and city leadership — ensuring their experience and insight are part of every major decision.

Public safety is a shared responsibility between the community and those who protect it. Under my leadership, that partnership will be stronger than ever.

Be Accountable, Accessible, & Transparent

Keeping citizens informed about city activities and procedures is one of my top priorities. Local government can often feel complicated or out of reach, but as elected officials, it's our duty to ensure transparency and accountability every step of the way.

To make that happen, we’ll use tools like social media, the city website, and other platforms to regularly share updates and important information. And as mayor, I’ll maintain an open-door policy — making it easy for you to reach out, ask questions, or stop by City Hall to speak with me directly.

Transparency isn’t just a political buzzword — it’s a core value. And it’s my promise to you, as your next mayor, to lead with openness, honesty, and a commitment to keeping you in the loop.

Keep Argo, Argo

Argo is often seen as a “bedroom” community for larger metropolitan areas like Birmingham and Trussville — but our residents deserve more than just a place to sleep. They should have convenient access to essential, high-quality resources like grocery stores, restaurants, financial services, and other everyday needs.

Part of my vision for Argo is to preserve our small-town charm while attracting the basic amenities that support our quality of life and stimulate local economic growth. No — we don’t want to become the next Trussville or even Springville. But we do want, and deserve, easy access to the essentials that make day-to-day living more convenient and fulfilling for the people who call Argo home.

Enhance Quality of Life for Argo Residents

I believe strong communities start with safe, accessible spaces where families and young people can come together. I’ll make it a priority to improve our city park—starting with better lighting, security cameras, and upgrades to the surrounding areas to make it more enjoyable and safer for everyone.

I also believe our youth deserve more opportunities right here in Argo. Too often, kids have to travel 5 to 10 miles just to play sports or participate in outdoor activities. I want to change that by working with property owners and the community to explore options for a small sports complex that our local kids can be proud of.

Having reliable access to well-maintained parks and recreational facilities is about quality of life, community pride, and giving our next generation the space to grow and thrive. My commitment is to explore every viable opportunity possible to make it happen.
